Dan Amundsen's
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle
SS396 Convertible

This
1969 Chevelle SS396 has a jet black rag top over beautiful red paint.
It is one of only 278 equipped with chemical "sanders"! Here, you
can see the cockpit of the muscle machine. Yes, that's a Hurst shifter
in the lower right. It's attached to a four-speed Muncie gearbox.
Gauges, radio and controls are all original.
Under the hood is a big block 396 CID engine breathing through
an 850 CFM Holley 4bbl carburetor. The engine has been totally reworked. Valves
are orchestrated by a Competition
roller cam. The healthy sound out the dual exhaust is produced through
a pair of Hooker headers.
Even the hose clamps and radiator cap are OEM. On
the ground are four BF Goodrich
tires, reminiscent of the heyday of the SS396.
Dan's pride and joy is featured in the Snap-On
Tool Corporation's 1998 Calendar. The sporty Chevelle shares the
billing as "Miss April."
